The Bears We Know
Published in Paperback by Firefly Books (J) (January, 1991)
Average review score:

Some things you just knowThis is a delightful little book that can be slipped into a card. The fun descriptions and charming pictures depict the daily activities of a group of bears who live down the street. Not that the children talking about them have ever actually SEEN the bears. Trust me, when everyone reads this book, they want to be a bear!

The Bears' Christmas Surprise
Published in Library Binding by North South Books (October, 1900)
Average review score:

Teddy Bears LoveI bought this book for myself because I love teddy bears. Once I read the book I feel in love with it. The story is wonderful and the message the bears left inside the presents is the best Christmas Gift anyone could give. I wish everyone had the bears spirit of Christmas all year long. With all the trauma going around the world everyone should think about the message of love and the real meaning of Christmas.

Bears: A Veteran Outdoorsman's Account of the Most Fascinating and Dangerous Animals in North America
Published in Hardcover by Crown Pub (December, 1986)
Average review score:

An Outstanding Book About a Fascinating AnimalI have owned a copy of this book since I was 15 years old in 1983. I ordered that copy from the now-defunct Outdoor Life Book Club, and that fact that I recently ordered another copy from Amazon.com, to ensure that I'll be able to read and re-read it for years to come, should tell you what I think of it. The late Ben East (he passed away in 1990) was a fine wordsmith with a voluminous knowledge of the outdoors in general and bears specifically that sprang from 60+ years of experience. He writes with an easy, very readable and entertaining style, with many anecdotes of bear behavior, bear hunting and even bear attacks that will cause you to read and re-read this book for years. Just as I have. Very highly recommended.

Bedtime for Bear
Published in Hardcover by Hodder & Stoughton Childrens Division (01 February, 1988)
Average review score:

Delightful Bedtime StoryCharmingly illustrated dialogue between "Small" (a small bear) and "Big" (grown bear) about the many reasons Small is having trouble getting to sleep. The dark, a noise, a wrong-sized bed, a drink of water, and scratchy pajamas all conspire to keep Small awake. Big responds to each of Small's concerns with the same mix of love and humor that families everywhere can relate to. The rhyme and rhythm make this a fun book to read aloud. This book is one of our favorites.

The Berenstain Bear Scouts and the White Water Mystery
Published in Unknown Binding by Bt Bound (March, 1901)
Average review score:

My son's first mystery! This book introduced him to a love of mystery books and is the first Bear Scout book in his Berenstain Bear book collection. The Too Tall Gang and the Bear Scouts have a boat race. They never passed them, but the nasty gang won the race. How? In an underhanded way by using two boats and a short-cut trek through the woods to the finish line.It was fun reading this book 'slowly' trying to come up with different scenarios as to how the Too Tall Gang won the race without passing the Bear Scout boat. We were happy that one of our scenarios was close the the outcome. A discussion about fairness in competition and deception followed. It made great reading and great conversation with our book loving 6 year old. I highly recommend it.
